Hi there, I'm on reboxetine and wellbutrin and they block me up pretty badly. Result is that I get stomach&gut aches and constipation most days which [due to depression] I blame myself for and as a result I feel even more depressed/hurt/low.
I've tried fybogel, movicol, prunes, apricots, all-bran cereals and so on. I take food with both of my wellbutrin doses as I've heard that wellbutrin on an empty stomach can cause stomach aches.
Does anyone else have any other ideas? It's pretty shit being depressed and having stomach/gut aches to boot.
Peace,
pete

Hi pete :o)
Do you drink loads of water??? If I don;t drink at least 2 liters of WATER i get all bunged up.. Coffee / tea make it worse for me.
Also, I was told I had to train my body.. get it used to going... I had to sit there every evening for up to half an hour.. (get a good book!!) After a few weeks my body got used to the idea and started complying!!

I recently had a total hysterectomy. Afterwards, I had the same problem. I suffered for several weeks, not to be gross but it was like $#^ing a brick! A friend told me to start taking stool softeners. So I did and now I go regularly and it doesn't hurt! Just go to the drug store and get the store brand, (cheaper) and take a couple a day for a few days. (100 Mgs) It usually takes about 3 days to work, then take one every 3 to 4 days just to keep yourself regular. I hate to be dependent on anything like that, but hey, it beats the heck out of that misery. Good luck!

Hi. Try drinking LOTS of water, getting daily exercise and eating Metamucil WAFERS (they are like cookies) with water. Just don't eat the Metamucil wafers with your meds or vitamins because I think the wafers might interfere with the absorption of medications and supplements. And, as one of the other posters suggested, good reading material helps relax you.

Prescription Laxative
MIRALAX - Polyethylene Glycol 3350, NF Powder
Braintree Laboratories, Inc./Braintree, MAGot this from my Internal Med. doc. When I first read the label I thought it had to be a joke - this is the stuff they make rubber tires out of!! Its NOT a joke. Not a stimulant laxative, works very well, good stuff to have around for this side affect from meds.

Hey thanks you lot, that a fair few suggestions to try out.
I'm going to try lots of water, apples and potty training. If those don't work, I'll give the metamucil wafers and Movicol [uk equiv of miralax] a go. I've read in several places it's not a good idea to be on stimulant laxatives for a long period of time so I'll try those last. Thanks again,
pete.p.s. hello there Nikki!

I have taken many meds that have caused this problem (not the current ones) and have found a solution- flax seeds! They are cheap and good for you, tasty and easy to add to cereal or anything else. The trick is to buy them in bulk and then grind them in an electric coffee grinder.
All I needed was 2 or 3 teaspoons in my morning cereal to do great things that metamucil, laxatives, stool softeners, etc, etc. could not
Good luck
