Hello,
somebody I know took St.John's wort, 1000 mg a day (very high I guess). it really helped with her bad moods, probably PMS related; her boyfriend said she turned into "Miss congeniality". The thing is, during the three months she took it, her periods STOPPED! (so of course she didn't have PMS, right?) She went off it, ad th eperiods came back immediately.
Any input, possible causes?Kat26

The starting dose is 300 mg 3 times a day for a total of 900, so 1,000 mg is not really too high a dose. You should do an internet search to see if SJW can interfere with periods. I thought I read once that it can interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills but I'm not sure.

Hi, and thanks for your response.
I have been searching the internet, and got very contradictory information. I read about the birth control interference, and then somewhere else I read that it may make mestrual bleeding heavier, not lighter... I just thought I'd post this here in case somebody had some experience with this..Kat26
