IsoM, anyone ... ever hear of Liquid Oxygen?

Posted by cindylou on January 20, 2002, at 16:58:20

A friend recently told me about "Liquid Oxygen" -- you can buy it in health food stores. She told me that her teenage son was exhausted all the time and couldn't get out of bed for school, but she started giving him this liquid oxygen in his juice in the morning and he all of a sudden he was awake and ready to go ... his teachers all said that he was focusing better and seemed to have more energy.

Any truth to this? Or scam scam scam?

thanks, cindy

No...liquid oxygen is the real deal. Its hard to find actually. Its a sports aid. Ive never actually taken any before but Ive read all about this. The idea was originally developed in Nazi Germany as an aide for overworked factory workers...to energize them. Then after the war some of these Nazi scientists who developed the idea went to the USSR where they became Soviet sports scientists and they developed all kinds of chemical aids for Soviet Olympic athletes, steroids, chemical aids to recovery from heavy exercise, etc.

The liquid oxygen was developed as a result of this and gradually came into use among Olympic athletes, particularly from the former USSR and Warsaw Pact countries. Gradually it came here and IF you can find liquid oxygen drinks here, its a good bet to feel energized for a few hours or maybe an afternoon. Its safe and it does work.

Its basically the same idea of athletes breathing pure oxygen for energy, but you drink it instead.

Old School,
Thanks so much!! Your information is very interesting ... I was wondering where the concept originated.

I actually bought some today -- we have a few large health food markets in the area. They had several brands of this liquid oxygen. The kind I got has a dropper, and you put about 15 drops into a glass of water three times a day. They also had liquid oxygen "drinks" and oxygen tablets. I thought the liquid would get into your system more quickly.

Think I'll give it a try now that I have some more information. I'll keep you posted :)

Thanks again,
cindy

Try the oxygen drink if the drops dont work. I read about this in a powerlifting book before.

Only heard of it through "nutrition" sites that sell products, so I have no idea of the veracity of increasing oxygen available. I'm skeptical but will withhold my verdict till I find more. Cellular metabolism isn't as cut-&-dried as they'd like you to think.

When I find out what's really factual, good or bad, I'll repost, okay?

Since the temperature of liquid oxygen is -183 C, I think scam.

Liquid Oxygen vs liquid oxygen » Cecilia

Cecilia, it's not liquid oxygen but more a brand name, Liquid Oxygen, like Kleenex rather than facial tissue. Liquid Oxygen is supposed to be water with extra oxygen dissolved in it.

Like you, I think 'scam'. But I won't make a judgement call till I read more about it. I doubt that any extra oxygen dissolved in water & then drank is going to boost your metabolism. A metabolic rate is not 'reset' to go faster just with some extra oxygen, even if it does reach the cells through drinking water.

Cindy,

I seem to remember reading somewhere that most
of these energy-boosting drinks get their kick
from caffeine! I'm not sure that they are even
required to list it as an ingredient on the label.
You might want to check out the caffeine content
of "Liquid Qxygen".
