prednisone withdrawal

Posted by KB on December 30, 2001, at 9:24:29

Does anybody know anything about how prednisone withdrawal affects mood? I was on predisone for six weeks for a Lupus flare, starting at 20mg and slowly tapering down. I finally stopped totally last week and now I feel icky, both physicaly and mentally. I'm crying easily, eating a lot of junk, and have started thinking about suicide a lot again - this is the way I felt before I started treatment w/ Celexa and Wellbutrin - is this caused by stopping prednisone? If so, how long will it last - it would help if I knew that an end was in sight.

20 mgs/day was your max dose ? Yep, prednisone
is well known for possible mood problems. Call
your pdoc and work out a plan. Not a good idea to go this one without real medical advise.

I have taken large doses of predisone for months,
a few times I had problems, the worst thing I did was not report this to the doc. I did recover fully.
