Anyone with experience with high dose Effexor (300mg and up?) Does it feel different than lower ? Any more effective ? Private accounts are welcome. Please please write... I want to hear as much information as possible on this. Maybe from personal experience, general knowledge, someone you know, etc...

> JimmyHigh dose Effexor is your best bet for TRD. The only things more effective than high dose Effexor are MAOIs and ECT. You can go higher than the legal PDR max of 375 mg, its done all the time. Providing your blood pressure can tolerate that high a dose.
If you get to 375 mg Effexor and still arent out of depression, add Remeron to it. Thats a potent AD cocktail for TRD known as "California Rocket Fuel." And you could even add Lamictal to it for even higher efficacy.
Forget the PDR (unless you have liver, blood pressure or seizure problems) and just push the dose as high as you can take it.
I wish the drug companies would create liquid injectable forms of these antidepressants, like theyve done with anti-psychotics. This way people with severe depression could get antidepressants injected rather than taken orally, bypassing the gut and liver and all that absorbtion crap. Getting into your system directly...probably would be more effective.

I took 300mg Effexor for about 1 year and then it pooped out... Withdrawal was AWFUL.

Is it energizing ? Dose 300mg and up has stimulant-like effect, since I feel no stimulation on 225mg...

Lower doses worked at first, then every few months I would have to increase. I never did feel a lot more energy except for the first 4-6 weeks after increasing the dose. I have a lot more energy now that I am taking Adderall along w/ Celexa, & Desipramine.

>Yeah, the higher you go on Effexor the more stimulating it is. Thats because as you go higher on Effexor you kick in more norephiphrine and even a little dopamine. These two neurotransmitters tend to be more stimulating than serotonin.
Frankly, I found 375 mg Effexor XR to be the most stimulating AD Ive tried so far...its a good drug.

I was up to 450mg and it did not help. Effexor at low dosages worked great for me for the first couple of months, but pooped out. Increasing dosages just increased side-effects such as sexual disfunction and all the other usual suspects. Withdrawal was AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I cannot stress the fact of this enough and caution on coming off of it too quickly, if and when you choose to stop it (and you probably will at some point.)
