I am taking Effexor 225mg + Klonopin 2-4mg for Depression, Anxiety and Borderline Personality symptoms. My PDoc added Risperdal against my impulsivity and obsessive ideation (i.e. Serotogenic augmentation). I had sexual dysfunction since it raised my Prolactin to the skies, so we switched to Zyprexa 5mg/day. This is effective for me, but I am to tired and not able to concentrate.
Is there any way to counteract this sedating effect ? Anything to add to the cocktail ? My PDoc says Seroquel is even more sedating. Is that true ? We still don't have Geodon here. Actually, I don't like that dopamine antagonism at all. I'll happily do without it.Thanks for the help.

Hi:You can get Zyprexa in 2.5mg doses, and I have tried both 5 and 2.5, and you may find 2.5 less sedating. At 5mg, with my Effexor, I was very much a Zombie. 2.5 seems more tolerable. Give it a shot...let us know how it works out!
Best wishes..

For me it was just a matter of waiting it out. After about 1-2 months your body will be well enough adjusted that you won't notice the sedation. For now I would recommend taking your dose after dinner. YYou'll be able to get a good night's sleep and by the time the morning comes you should have passed by that washed out feeling.
I now take my 7.5 mg dose in the mornings and don't have a problem with the sedation.
This is the end of the thread.
