I was just curious, Cam, are you a mental health professional? You seem remarkably, remarkably knowledgeable for a layperson. Also, on a more personal note, do you suffer from mental illness? You seem too functional for that.

P.S. You are obviously in no way obligated to actually answer these questions if they make you uncomfortable.

Bob - Yes, I am a pharmacist who has worked closely with those with mental illnesses for years. And yes, I am a chronic depressive. As for being too functional..."I am crazy, not stupid." < LOL >
Actually, some days I am more functional than others. - Cam

Cam:
First, I'd like to say that you are an absolute Godsend to this board.
Secondly, when I mentioned your functionality, I was just noting that I've seen evidence that you hold down a job with sometimes intensive hours, and that you always have time to pay attention to this board, as well as being nothing but supportive. I'd call that highly functional. It just seems like so many of these meds affect cognitive functioning and have physical side-effects, like fatigue and tiredness. You seem to have found a mix of meds that works well for you.

Bob - Sometimes I wonder; I really wonder if I do have any energy....or if I am just babbling. - Cam

Bob - I may be whining, but if it weren't for the stigma associated with my depression, I think that I would be able to get a job in the mental health field, again (I think I blew it with my last relapse....< sigh >). Alas, no drugs are perfect all of the time. - Cam (feeling sorry for himself...again)

Feeling sorry for one's self is completely acceptable in our cases. These conditions strip away positive attitudes.

No offense intended but I'd call that highly avoidant as well.
I always make myself intensely busy when there are things that I just don't want to deal with. It doesn't mean I'm 'functional", it just means I'm trying not to "feel"

Not always, Tina. When I'm feeling good, I do lots, am very busy, & very happy. Full of life, energy, & motivation.
I accomplish little when I'm down. Some people just react the opposite than others. I also don't eat when I'm depressed & become very thin - others overeat. I suppose it just depends on the individual whether it's avoidance or not. :)

I'd have to say that I'm like IsoM here. The less the meds work, the less I do, or feel like doing. When I'm feeling good, I want to do all kinds of things, and I want to do them well. When I'm not feeling good, I don't care.
We are all different.
