Hi, I would like to know of anyone who has taken doxepin. What side effects did you experience, and did it help. Mary

Took it many years ago. Made me very tired, dry mouth and gained a lot of weight.
Was prescriped for my depression and PD, but had still break-through panic attacks on it.

Yes, it was the first AD I took with Lithium a couple of decades ago. The only thing that is fairly guaranteed is that you will probably sleep quite well, and it cuts down generalized anxiety considerably. If you are looking for a TCA that is sedative and anxiolytic you would be much better off with either Amitriptyline (Elavil) or Nortripytline (Pamelor). You will get a little less sedation with the Elavil and a better AD effect. Nortripytline is just lightly sedative, and is pretty good for panic if yo don't want to be a zombie.
