Moclobemide high dose makes me sleepy

Posted by adamie on November 17, 2001, at 23:06:03

hi. 300mg moclobemide hasn't made me too tired but today I raised to 450mg. 150mg at 3pm. 300mg at 6pm. and this has made me extremely tired and sleepy today. less sleepy since 11pm so that effect wore off a bit.

should i try 300mg and see how it goes? I am suffering from severe depression with possible atypical features. i guess maybe i should keep taking 450mg and just hope for that effect to go away. does sleepiness from moclobemide go away in time? I have experienced this before when I took the med with zyprexa.

i am so sick of the mind torture. i am stopping this medication. like all the AD's it's making the depression WORSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. i am so sick of living like this. sometimes it just seems so tempting to take all those damn pills. hopefully there is some afterlife.

Hi Adamie.

Moclobemide made me feel horrifically worse.

I wish that I had some helpful advice for you to give you immediate relief. I don't right now. Do any of the stimulants help - even a little? Some people have used things like stimulants and S-AMe to provide mild temporary relief between drug trials. Maybe an atypical neuroleptic like Zyprexa can help you through things.

Lamictal seems to help some people who have had little success with standard antidepressants.

Personally, I am reluctant to leave life. Without a guarantee otherwise, I consider life to be my one and only opportunity to exist as a consciousness.

I know this is a bad time for you, but like so many of those that you have had in the past, it will pass. Your positive energy will soon return. Just hang in there. I know this is much easier said than done.

maybe not taking my moclobemide doses today is having some positive effect. i flushed the med down the toilet. hopefully i will be significantly better in the next few days.

yes i have tried sam-e before. first time i took it i thought for sure it helped but it could have been a coincidence. second and 3rd time i wasn't sure it had any effect. and i cant get any more since i live in canada and parents not willing to order any more.

I also felt very bad with moclobemide. I think it's because it's increasing anxiety too much. I have atypical depression like you. I found relief with NE sedative AD, but I think you don't have them in USA. It's miansérine and lofépramine that we find here in Europe. But maybe you could try Remeron, it's also sedative.
