I got erectile dysfuntion under paroxetine (Paxil) ad this makes me very frustrated. I am taking Paxil (30 mg/d) since spring after trying many other ADs. I think it works better (for me) than the others (Celexa, Efexor, Zoloft, Trimipramine...) against depression but I developed real sexual dysfunction. This makes me very sad. And I gain weight and feel tired. I wouldt stop this med because it works but the side effects are nasty. I hadnt such sexual problems with any AD before. The strange thing about Paxil was my increased libido at the beginning of taking it (perhaps it was triggered by coming of high doses of Celexa at the same time 80 mg) What could I do ?
Does anyone have good results with ading buspar (buspirone) or something other ?Ben

I forgotten to say that I take 0.5 mg Temesta (Lorazepam) at night with the Paxil and 62.5 mg Madopar (L-Dopa) against restless legs. Could this drugs influence my sexual problems ?

Hey Ben -
My experience on Paxil was similar to yours - felt tired and gained weight. I had significant delayed ejaculation during the first several weeks, which abated completely and I was able to function normally. I was never impotent. I assume that you are experiencing impotence... perhaps Viagra could help?

I dont like the idea of Viagra because it isnt paid by the assurance and doesnt fix the problem really.
I guess its caused by dopamineergic downregulation which could be a long term effect of SSRI or an increase in prolactin as well (fewer dopamine = fewer prolactin).
Is weight gain usual under paroxetine as sedation as well ?
This is the end of the thread.
