I am having trouble sleeping and someone suggested taking Kava Kava. I am already taking 20 mg. of celexa and wanted to make sure it was safe to use the both in combo. Thanks for advice.

> GeneGene,
I was taking a much lower dose of Celexa and tried the KavaKava for a couple of days (during the day-for social anxiety) and it did seem to help (but not enough IMO to take it regularly) and I didn't have any adverse reactions to it.
I guess you are concerned because it is supposed to be a mild MAO inhibitor?I don't know if it would have enough effect to get someone to sleep due to SSRI insomnia though. I would trust OTC Benadryl 25mg at bedtime to do the trick over KK.
