Everyone responds differently to meds.
A lot of people do well when they switch from
one med to another. Effexor boosts 2 chemicals in
the brain (serotonin and noradrenaline), whereas
Celexa focuses on serotonin. Whether or not the
drug works or is tolerable is a very individual
manner. Hi dose effexor tends to have a good hit
rate for treating depression.good luck,

effexor actually acts on dopamine as well, it all depends on what dosage level you are taking as to which receptors it acts on...again, like johnx2 said, everyone responds differently to effexor, some people get sleepy from it, some get some form of hypertension... my first few days on it were a bit rough, some people have no problems with it... since you have been on other meds, it may not be as much as an issue for you, but for me it was the first AD that i had ever taken...
in any case, just be sure to tell your doctor if you are having any adverse side effects, no matter how little you perceive them to be...
goodluck. its supposively a fairly good AD and is mostly perscribed for both first time AD users and for AD users that have tried other ADs that don't work for them... It's got its ups and downs, but for all the horror stories, there are a lot of successes on it that go untold.
This is the end of the thread.
