I am taking prozac 60mg for depression and zyprexa 10mg was added a couple of months ago. But still problems sleeping so now on remeron 15mg and am sleeping all the time now. I think I should stop zyprexa but can I do that all at once or should I taper? Anyone taking any of these meds, which combo is best?? Or should I stop prozac and try another SSRI? I would just like to have energy again but still be able to sleep. I feel like I will never get better.

I've been on Remeron before. The first few days it really knocks you out. But, unfortunately, the tiredness stays around for good usually. I used to sleep all the time when I was on it. I was on .5 mg of Risperdal for anxiety at the time as well. The Remeron kindof fogs your mind while you're on it. It can make you have more trouble concentrating or slow you down. I think you should switch to another SSRI. Don't go with Paxil though. Perhaps Zoloft or whatever. If you want energy you could try Wellbutrin. But I'd take an SSRI along with it to help your mood stay up.

I am having the same problem with (40mg) prozac - sleepy, sleepy, sleepy. People on this site have recommended adding Wellbutrin. I haven't tried it yet. How is the prozac working for your depression? It seems to be working for me, but this tiredness is pretty annoying. Do you have more problems falling asleep or waking up? Let me know, hopefully we can helpeach other out here.
To the board: Can anyone speak to success with prozac augmented by Wellbutrin? Thanks...

Did adding Zyprexa help?
But still problems sleeping so now on remeron 15mg and am sleeping all the time now.
When I first started Remeron, especially the first night, it knocked my ass out. As I worked up to 60 mg it slowed me down much less and I may have even lost a few pounds.
And, as you know, depressives on meds are always trying to loose weight. I'm going to be calling a few gyms this week to see if any have a personal trainer that concentrates on facial-bloating. I figure that person probably will know how to make 3 chins disappear, also.
I think I should stop zyprexa but can I do that all at once or should I taper?Go to your doctor before stopping any med.
Anyone taking any of these meds, which combo is best??
There's the $64,000.00 question.

Depression never makes anyone think that things can be better, that's not a depressing thought.
I've been with the same pdoc for 2 years and it has taken a very regimented trial of endless combinations to find one that now, is letting about 75% of the sun in. If your doc is good and you've armed yourself with knowledge from this board..you'll get there.Phil

A little methamphetamine in the morning will clear that sleepiness right up.
JOKING. Please nobody write and tell me that I'm Satan.
Again I must go with advising the Seroquel for your sleep problems. It's helped me adjust to some very difficult, long-term sleep problems. (alternating insomnia with extended periods of sleep). I take 100 mg before bed and don't wake up with that Nyquil-type hangover.
It's worth a try...

P.S. it takes a week or two or three to kick in, so maybe you could ask for some Klonipin or Xanax in the meantime. -G

Hi! I have had a problem with extreme fatigue for over 20 years
for the past 10 years I have been on Prozac 40mg
perphenazine 4mg, and buspar 15mg twice a day)
I sleep 10 hours a nite, then must take 2 two hour naps during the
day. Complained to dr and pdoc about this
last week started Provigil 100mg to 200mg every day
fantastic for first week, too much energy, now its calmed down a little
and I think I may need to up the provigil if its ok with the pdoc
but so far this stuff works!!!!tried seroquel for 3 weeks in may
worst three weeks of my life, slept 18 hours a day
extreme fatique. will never go back to thatsleep for about 8 hours a nite
and NO DAYTIME NAPS LIKE BEFORE
yet like i said the provigil seems to be wearing off a little bit> A little methamphetamine in the morning will clear that sleepiness right up.
