Thanks to Simcha, Zo and Cam for the Topamax info

Posted by Greg on October 9, 2001, at 18:44:35

I wanted to thank you three for posting the info you found about the link between Topamax and glaucoma. I have been experiencing blurred vision since starting the Top and had chalked it up to age (which it may very well be). My vision has been declining for the last 4 or 5 years so I really made no connection to this until I read your posts. I asked about it when I saw my psych today and he hadn't heard anything about it. He asked me to fax him the CNN article, which I did along with the link that Cam posted. He called me back within the hour and told me to make an appt with my eye doctor right away. He's lowered my dose of the Top from 200mgs to 100 and says to call him with the results of the eye exam as soon as I get them. He sounded very concerned. I really hope I find that this is all much ado about nothing as the Topamax has been an excellent mood stabilzer for me, but we'll see.

Thanks again for the info, it is muchly appreciated!

Greg

Greg - Hey, for a great guy like you, I'd always go the extra mile. Take care buddy, and let us know what the verdict is. - Cam

Greg,

You are most welcome. I know that you and the others would do the same for me if Celexa or Wellbutrin had similar warnings all of a sudden. I'm glad your doctor is investigating. I hope your vision is OK and the Topomax is ok for you.

Take Care,
Simcha
