has anyone tried or heard of using t-3 such as armour, cytomel, and thyrolar for OCD symptoms?
i have just some obsessive thinking symptoms without compulsions.
recently i was diagnosed with hypothyroid and was told that OCD is caused by low serotonin and can be helped with a t-3 conversion..
unfortunately it was not a dr. that told me about this...soooo i was wondering if anyone knew of this and if so has anyone tried it and has it helped and if so how long did it take and what noticable sign did you see at first.
i do not want to take another ssri...i am sooo tired of them..i want to try the natural approach and see where that gets me, if anywhere..
recently i have been takins selenium at 200 mcgs a day but i know that it can a long time to change the t3..
my t-3 is within normal range at t-3 free:2.9 with a lab range of 2.3-4.2...i was told that it is best to have it in the upper two thirds...but of course my dr. don't know anything about this..so if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it! thanks to all!

Have you taken a look at Psycho-Babble Tips yet? Different posters here took on specific subjects and compiled links to Psycho babble posts and outside web sites on each subject. There is a section on Thyroid as well as sections on Effexor, Children, SAD and more. It's at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psycho-babble-tips/links
You can also get there by following the links on this page for Psycho-Babble Tips.
I don't know if it contains anything on T3 and OCD but when you do find out more please post a follow up.
