Good early response from Ketoconazole

Posted by Cruz on September 4, 2001, at 19:01:40

I just began treatment with Ketoconazole and I am encouraged. Im awakening from the scurge of depression.
Since I am quite sure my form of depression is endocrine in nature and probably haveing to do with my circadian rythmn. At one time I resonponded well to sleepdeprivation.Withoutsleep for 2 nights and then resume a normal sleeping pattern. The depression would be non existant for 2 weeks, then it would return. I continualy did this for 15 years or so. Then I had a motorcycle accident and injured my testicles(they were swollen and sore for 3 weeks). Ever since then I have found that I dont respond to sleep deprivation. Any way getting back to Ketoconazole, I think I Will quit it and see how long befor the depression returns. If I'm lucky it will stay away a few weeks. When it returns I will resume Ketoconazole.
Like any medication I certainly do not want to take any more than is neccessay, so I will have to experiment to see how little I can get by on. Just letting you know my progress. Optomistic so far.

I would be intrested in a discussion of possible methods of action(s) in using an antifungal as an AD.

Since you are dealing with cronic depression, stopping a med that works tends to make the returning depression worse.

Ketoconazole is also a cortisol synthesis inhibitor.

I posted a relevant URL in another thread. I forgot which one.
