Relief from Effexor XR withdrawl...HOWTO?

Posted by kid_A on August 6, 2001, at 13:58:53

Forgot medicine this morning at home, so Im stuck at work for the next 2+1/2 hours until I can get home to take it...

Im taking the XR caps, and I'm wondering if its advisable to split a cap open and just injest the contents immediately, rather then let it be slowly absorbed as it would normally be...

Anyone ever try this? I don't have any of the non-XR pills, but I asume that it is the same thing just packaged differently...

Its more micro-withdrawl then full blown withdrawl as is so often written about here, its not -the worst- thing in the world, but it certainly isn't any fun...

kid - Just take your dose when you get home and wait. Opening the capsule will not do much and crushing the balls will screw-up your levels. You should feel relief in about an hour of taking the capsule. Let this be a lesson to you and use it as a reinforcer to remember to take your meds :^)

On your last point, I was thinking the exact same thing... All after reading a post a week or so ago about dosing schedules and having reserves handy for just such an imergency... but I'm the guy who remembers about the spare when he gets a flat tire... I think I even remembered to remember this morning, but then promptly forgot it again... I'm glad I don't need to remember to metabolise food... took some benadryl, we'll see how that works out, only a few hours to go... thanks Cam.

Hi:
I have posted about this before, but as a person who also only remembers the spare after the tire is flat (family members are glad that my head is permanently attached or else it would be left behind), I have found that ALWAYS having a small amount of the meds on my person is the only way I can remember mid-day dosing. As a woman that means keeping a small amount in my pocketbook and my keychain purse (they are always with me). For men I recommend keeping a small amount in either your wallet, wireless phone case, pager case (or whatever you know you will always have with you). I suggest treating your meds like you do your keys...you don't leave home, etc. without them--or you don't get very far. When I check to see if I have my keys, phone, credit cards, I always check to see if I have some meds--since they are more important than any of the other items. You don't have to keep a whole bottle--just make sure you always have a dose! Forming this habit really works!
Thanks and good luck
