Effexor withdrawal?

Posted by anna on July 22, 2001, at 23:08:09

I have been trying to wean off of effexor for 3 weeks now. Had gotten up tp 225mg, but only for a week. I had horrible headaches, nausea and vomiting. But I have had to cut back so very slow because my main withdrawal symptom has been dizziness, amd I mean to the point of passing out. I got my blood pressure checked and found out that when I stood up my blood pressure was bottoming out. One day it was 80/50-the day the nurse checked it. Other than that my anxiety (that I already had) is 10 times worse. Has anyone else experienced the blood pressure problem? I am also on Wellbutrin 300 mg a day, Klonopin 1mg twice a day as needed and xanax for severe panic and sleep if needed, and topomax, neurontin 600 mg to help with withdrawals. Thanks,
Anna

You might try increasing your salt intake while you're going through this. . .helps with orthostatic hypotension, the dizziness when standing. Also licorice tea.

Thanks for the advice, Zo. I have never heard of licorice tea but am sure I can find some, and will have no prob increasing my salt intake!
