Hi -
I've been on Celexa for at least a year with good success.
(Some weight gain but WELL worth it)
My question is this: a couple of times I have missed
2 days of pills due to not getting to the pharmacy in
time. Each time I noticed a huge, ugly crash - terrible
depression episodes that last just until I start again,
maybe 12-24 hours. Is this normal? Am I imagining it?
My dosage is 20, btw. thanks - MM

Citalopram has a mean terminal half-life of 35 hours, so after 2 days of not taking it, you can expect to have the symptoms you had.

I had a similar effect when I stopped taking Celexa. I stopped taking it once due to side effects, and even though I tapered down I still crashed HARD when I hadn't taken it for a couple days. Don't worry, I think it's normal. But take it as a sign that if/when you go off, make sure you taper off slowly to avoid such a severe crash.
This is the end of the thread.
