I have been on prozac for many years but it stopped working and I tried suicide in May. Now I am on 5mg zyprexa plus 40mg prozac and I feel better than in years. Also in outpatient group therapy. But I have gained 10 pounds in two weeks even though I am exercising and trying to watch what I eat. Is geodon just as good for augmenting prozac?? Also I have been addicted to ambien and cannot fall asleep easily. The zyprexa was supposed to help but has not. Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. I took seroquel briefly and it helped the sleep but not the depression. Thanks!!

In reply to prozac+zyprexa and how to not gain weight???, posted by Dona on July 7, 2001, at 10:47:18
Dona, I felt terrific with Zyprexa augmentation, but gained 40 lbs., and there proved to be no way to control it. You could try 1 Axid (over the counter antacid) twice a day, manufacturer now says that will block the weight gain, but it was too late for me. . .it really whacked my insulin response. Geodon didn't work the same for me. . tho it was developed precisely to compete with Zyprexa and *not* cause weight gain. Am now trying a little Risperidol, with fingers crossed. YMMV!
Good luck,
Zo
