Anyone had experiences with Ovarian Cysts?

Posted by Gin on July 3, 2001, at 10:38:55

Last July I found that I had ovarian cysts. My Dr. just wanted to "watch" them so that meant a freaking ultrasound every 2-3 months. We watched it get bigger, we watched one go away. Last check in Jan it was the size of a golfball and she said it looked as if it has shrank like a centimeter or something. Anyway, I started feeling better, the constant cramping stopped, so I didn't go in for the March ultrasound. Now I'm constantly hurting again and going in for another test on Friday. I take Prozac 40 mgs a day, and clonazepam when I need it (daily). Could this possibly be contributing to the cysts? I've had them for so long now, that I feel something must be done, what do I expect? Do they usually do surgery or some sort of painful office procedure? Any advice for someone with experience?? Thanks, Gin

I also have ovarian cysts. I haven't had as much
problems with them the past couple of years. They
usually don't do surgery on them, they usually prescribe
birth control pills b/c what causes cysts is ovulation
and birth control supresses ovulation. Unfortunately,
I couldn't tolerate birth control b/c it made my
depression a lot worse. I take prozac too. I never
have considered that it could have contributed to my
cysts b/c I got them before I started prozac. I
just ride the waves with them--don't know if that's
good, but that's what I do. I have had them burst
before and that is really painful.
