Zoloft and side effects??

Posted by Joeypanic on July 3, 2001, at 1:26:20

I was just wondering when you up your dosage do the side effects come back? I was on 50 mg for 3 weeks and had agitation and an upset stomach and now I have been on 100 mg for a week and I am feeling agitated and I am having anxiety again. Is it possible each time you up your dose you go through the side effects until your body gets adjusted to the dose?
Thanks

If you get that upset stomach again, buy some over-the-counter Pepcid AC or Zantac 45. For the anxiety you can get some Tylenol Simply Sleep or Benadryl 50 mg (which is the ingredient in most OTC sleep remedies). This is the way to fight _smarter_.

Sal,
I suffer from panic/anxiety and I am feeling very agitated, this is my 32nd day on Zoloft.I am getting worried with all the anti-ssri stuff on the web I really don't feel much better.I also take 7.5 mg of Remeron and 2 mg of Klonopin and I am feeling hopeless and like something is wrong with me.I feel unhappy and blue mixed with agitation and I am wondering why I don't feel better.I was thinking of switching Remeron to Zyprexa...Do you think this is a good choice?

Have a look at this posting. It is common to start Zoloft at 25mg when it's for a panic disorder (because it can initially cause anxiety). I had trouble with anxiety when I started - but I didn't know whether it was the Zoloft or Paxil withdrawal. I've just gone up to 75mg from 50mg - and am only now starting to feel better. (After 2 months). The side effects are supposed to wear off after 3-4 weeks.

Hope this helps - hang in there
Jackie

I say give Remeron a better try (get up to a more therapeutic dosage); if that doesn't work, then Zyprexa is a good option.
