Effexor and Prozac combination (switchover)?

Posted by Jocor on June 28, 2001, at 7:53:41

Well, I did see me psychiatrist yesterday and explained about the continuous obsessive thoughts. He wants to switch me (very slowly) to Prozac, which I have been on before with success.

I am now taking 300mg Effexor XR and 10mg Prozac.

Anyone on that combination (Effexor + Prozac)? Any problems? What can I expect?

Thank you for you support.

You can expect some major sexual dysfunction, but you may have had that on Effexor anyway. Other than that, if you take the Effexor all at bedtime, you may have no significant side-effects during the next day.

I am on 40mg of Prozac in the morning and have been taking effexor xr 37.5 at bedtime. So far, everything has been ok. I also take doxepin at night, which made me sleep very well at night. Since I started effexor xr, I feel tired sometimes, but don't want to sleep all of the time as I did before starting effexor. I start taking 75mg effexor xr tomorrow night. I am keeping my fingers crossed and am hoping for some decent results.
