Post suicide attempt and need advice about meds

Posted by Dona on May 29, 2001, at 18:03:53

I really got major depressed last week and took librium and stilnox that I had gotten over the internet. I took enough "to kill a horse" according to my dr, but maybe the strength of internet meds is different. Anyway, I am pulling myself out of the mess after three days on a locked unit. I trust my psychiatrist, but would just like to know what others think about the meds I am now on. I am on prozac 80mg (and was on that dose when I was suicidal so it did not do much). Dr has now added 150mg day of Wellbutrin SR and will slowly decrease prozac dose. I am taking 100 mg seroquel at night for sleep. Sleep has always been a major problem of mine and the seroquel seems to help. After years of trying to self medicate myself, I know I should trust the doctors and I will try. Any advice will be appreciated

I hope he's upping the Wellbutrin, too...150 isn't much...normal dosage is 150 TWICE/DAY.

That combination sounds good to me. You should eventually go up to 300 mg of Wellbutrin.
