Can these two drugs safely be taken together. I seem to have been given conflicting information. I am aware of contraindications of phentermine and SRSs but since wellbutrin is in a class by inself, I wondered if the two were safe together. I take 300 mg of wellbutrin SR daily for depression. I have been prescribed phentermine for weight loss.

Any of the "weight loss" drugs can make your depression worse.

Hello, Susana:
I took Wellbutrin and Serzone back in 1998 till July 2000-I had good results.
I now take Celexa and it seems to be working. For myself, it's not just the medications. I have to back it up with good psychotherapy-group, one-on-one, self help, reading, posting on message boards-not just the meds.

I'm on Wellbutrin SR, 300 mg/day. Since starting it, I have lost 23 lbs, it just made me not want to nosh so much on treats and tidbits, and I ate fewer meals & smaller portions. And it gave me more energy than I've had in a long time, so I could exercise...
Since it's the same medicine as the drug to keep you from smoking (Zyban? it's called?), you can see how it might keep one from obsessing about food as well.
What I'm saying is, you might try the Wellbutrin for a while by itself, it might do the trick all on its own.

>When I took Phentermine 37.5 mg. with Wellbutrin it cused my heart to fibrilate. It scared the hell out of me. I changed the Wellbutrin and not the Fastin because I have a weight problem.
