Does anyone know if Pamalor is better than Trazadone or is the opposite true?
I am having a difficult time falling asleep and staying asleep and was wondering which med is better.

Gene - As an agent to help you sleep, the Desyrel™ (trazodone) is much more sedating than Pamelor™ (nortriptyline - CDN = Aventyl™). I believe that Pamelor is a better overall antidepressant, but you usually don't take trazodone in high enough doses for a antidepressant effect (eg. 25mg to 100mg for sleep and 450mg to 600mg for depression). With monitoring, the two drugs could be taken together, as long as the trazodone dose is low. (need to watch for signs of serotonin syndrome).
Hope this helps - Cam
