I thought celexa was supposed to have less sexual side effects. Everything I have tried prozac, effexor, serzone, celexa, have given me anorgasmia even extremely low doses. I guess I'll have to just stay on my old standby xanax. I take meds for panic and mild depression but the anitdepressants make me feel great just need to get a divorce and join the priesthood. The xanax has worked for 2 years but I feel guilty been sober for fifteen years now and finally needed some medical relief. I would have had to get drunk again if it weren't for the xanax.....just need to accept it works and leave it alone. I have tried 9 different drugs in the last 2 years to try not to take xanax but I think I am done experimenting and going to stick with what works.

Hi Gil,
if what you've got is panic attacks and MILD depression, why not try psychological interventions? Although the world is desperate for a few good and available men, and priests, you do not have to join their ranks because of your disabilities :)
Can you find yourself a good specialist in CBT and another good one in PCT in your area? the treatment is usually brief and very effective. VERY effective.
best

> Mila,
Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried CBT plus have gone to two different support groups outside of AA and this darned panic still limits my life it creeps back in like ivy. I long to be functional...I.E. take my son to a ball game or drive distances from home without having to white knuckle it. I am 42 and have struggled with this since 1st grade I am tired. I have had 7 therapists and have just now started to try meds as a last ditch effort for normalcy. The shame of it is the Celexa would probably work even at a low dose but that darned sex thing keeps happening. Is there any middle aged men out there who are having good luck with celexa and did the anorgasmia subside at some point.

> Hi--
not a guy, sorry.
I've taken paxil [30mgs,standard dose] and am "familiar" with
your complaint. I found it resolved itself ca. 3 months. I've heard
1 or 2 others say 3 or 4 months. Would you be willing to stay on it for
that long to see if it would resolve?
Like you, I'm in recovery and so totally scared of stuff like xanax.
But you say that you've been depressed since 1st grade??
I was prompted to take AD meds to preserve my sobriety -- depression threatened
my sobriety, not to mention my sanity.
It seems like panic is more the problem? If so, the xanax, with good sobriety skills
[don't be guilty, it's non-productive and you need the med] is probably best.
If depression is more of an issue, have you tried the tricyclics? They're older and
some people object to the side effects but sexual problems are not generally amoung them.
I wish you the best.

Sorry, I'm not a guy either. :( I would repost this with a more specific subject line - I bet you'd get some good responses.
Re: Celexa experiences for me - at 30 mg, no problem. At 40 mg, problem. Ginko Biloba helped some.
