It took almost 3 months and 4 attempts to end use of Effexor XR, after ~1.3 yrs
of use at 37.5 and 75 mg. daily use. It was the weaning off the dose down to
~10 mg every day for 1 week, after 18 mg every day 2 weeks which worked. This
was after 3 attempts trying alternating days at 37mg. method (which was
terrible).I'm out of the bag now, it's been 12 days without, and I must say days 4-6 were
not so good. Headache, stupidity, and exhaustion, along with some brain
swooshing and dizzyness. But I've now got my enthusiasm, and desire for life
again. Still early, but I'm optomistic. I Actually worked on several art
projects that have sat for many, many months. Now to see how well blood pressure reduces, so I can end those 2 meds as well.
It was the Effexor that raised it to the point of requiring meds. While
tapering Effexor, B.P.starting dropping. Next few weeks should show if I can
taper off these as well.It was EMDR that really relieved my depressive, anxious mental angst. It was
tough and painful, but the results are outstanding. I've had long term Dys
thymia for many years. It was a surgeons error almost 2 years yrs ago now,
removing the wrong disc in my neck during an ACDF that really sent me into dire
straits...Meds can be helpful, but don't ignore the talk therapy. With the right people
it can be of tremendous help!!!!!!!
My experience proved to me Effexor is
addicting!!!
Best wishes...

James,
That is really wonderful.... you must feel so great that you held in and did it!!!!!!!!!
I also have to agree with you about your talk therapy comment. It worked better for me than any ad's. Any. And it sounds like I've been thru something similiar to you...... medical malpractice...that brought on this on.
ANyway... My hats of to you!!!!!!!!!!! Michele

> Thank you. I had some very tough times during certain withdrawal timeframes on the first 3 attempts. Much thanks goes to the accupunturist I started seeing, she helped me more than any other health care provider (in parallel with the EMDR psycologist), and helped me way beyond my initial consults with her starting 6 months ago. She really did save me during some severe withdrawal. She also introduced me into yoga and works with me on it. It has also aided in my recovery, and I continue it at least every other day. I see in some of your posts you yoga.

mila,
I work in clay, on the wheel and sculpture. I also work in stained glass, which is the project I really feel good about finally finishing. It's the 2nd half of a 4x4 foot window of a western river gorge of my design. It is complete and it's displayed in all it's colorful glory...
