Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) for depression?

Posted by SalArmy4me on April 17, 2001, at 21:30:14

I remember once taking a lot of Diphenhydramine for a cold and then waking up feeling better. Does anyone notice this? It is mentioned once in the Tips.

When my mother used to get panic attacks she swore by the benadryl--it seemed to have a calming effect and lessen her episodes. Since panic is a sign of depression, maybe it might work? She would take one or two at night and it would help calm her and then she would wake up feeling a little better---although that could be because it helped her sleep. Who knows. Over time it would dry you up like a prune I would imagine.........

Because of anxiety and panic attacks, I had trouble sleeping. It becomes a stress circle. Not enough sleep= stress and foggy head=can't sleep.
Benedryl will help you sleep.
