Celexa and drinking....

Posted by G on April 16, 2001, at 23:44:57

Yeah, I know its a no-no, but my girlfriend has been on celexa for six months and claims that 'you just get used to it'. For me, one beer and my eyes start drooping... As for side effects, i've had headaches everyday since i started (two-weeks ago) and the 'stomach problems' aren't much fun either... how long does it usually take to begin lifting one's mood or decreasing anxiety? I don't reckon i've felt any change yet...

Give the Celexa at least a 6-week trial in order to determine its effectiveness.

You may have your doctor prescribe low-dose Elavil for chronic-headaches, cyclobenzaprine for a killer headache, or you can just take OTC remedies for the duration of the treatment.

I don't know about the alchohol bit.

Celexa sometimes causes alcohol intolerance, although infrequently. Headaches also had been reported. It is my understanding that celexa's main indication is for depression, not for anxiety, although it does work for some anxiety sufferers. No such luck in my case. I had deepened depression and unbearable levels of social anxiety on Celexa.
