Wellbutrin....any issues????

Posted by Jennifer1 on April 12, 2001, at 12:28:04

I was taking Effexor but my doctor decided it probably wasn't right for me because of some side effects that I was experiencing. So he switched me to Wellbutrin. I wanted to know if anyone had any experiences...good or bad...with it.

Thanks!

I took Wellbutrin for a month and a half. I had no side-effects. Here is why Wellbutrin is a good deal:
*It has no anticholinergic side-effects.
*It has few, if any sexual side-effects. In fact, it may even improve sex drive and alleviate anorgasmia for some.
*Wellbutrin interacts negatively with few drugs, thus one could add most antidepressants to it (if need be).
*People like the stimulating effect of it.
*The new SR formulation can be taken 2 times a day instead of 3 times a day.
*No blood tests are needed.
*Wellbutrin IR is not as expensive as the SSRI's, mirtazapine, or venlafaxine.

I hope you do very well on Wellbutrin....

Hi Jennifer,
I was taking Effexor and Wellbutrin together (the Wellbutrin was added to help with the fatigue caused by the Effexor.)

Since the fatigue never really got better, I am now tapering off the Effexor, but I'm still on Wellbutrin -- 300 mg.

I am almost completely off of the Effexor, and I feel better than I have felt in months on the Wellbutrin alone (although I do ocassionally take Klonapin for anxiety.) The Wellbutrin has no side effects, that I can tell. (Maybe some agitation once in awhile, but I think that may have been caused by the Effexor withdrawal.)

I would definitely give the Wellbutrin a try!

Let us know what you decide--
Cindy
