Richelson: Non-benzodiazepine augmentation

Posted by jb on April 11, 2001, at 10:17:18

Dr. Richelson:

Hello, and thank you for participating in the "expert" program. Your insights (not advise or diagnosis, I understand very well) will provide many with useful information to discuss with their psychopharmacologist.

My question: Are there efficacious non-benzodiazepine augmentation agents which have the effect of enhancing Nardil's efficacy in treating social phobia?

Many thanks.

JB

Unfortunately, I am unaware of any non-benzodiazepine to use. Buspirone has been used to augment SSRIs in social phobia, but it must be used with caution in combination with MAOIs.
