I have been taking Effexor 75mg for four weeks now. I am having alot of trouble sleeping at night but I am sleey all day. My mind seems to race with all kinds of negative thoughts. It is hard for me to determine whether these are still some of the symptoms I was having before or if the medication is making them more pronounced. I still feal as if everything is overwhelming and I do not enjoy doing anything. Nothing seems to excite me and I cannot get happy. Please help with some advice.

Sometimes four weeks isn't enough time Shelly. Give it a little longer and if you still experience these things I'd say it's not the right med for you. Talk to your doc about augmentation or switching.
Still, I'd give it a little more time though sweetie.
Best wishes

Shelley,
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the Effexor. I have been on it for about 8 months, and I am now weaning off of it, which has been quite difficult. It definitely seems that the drug is not working for you, and my advice would be to discontinue it now -- maybe it won't be as hard since it hasn't been in your system for long. I also felt extremely fatigued on the med during the day ... "drugged out." My doctor added Wellbutrin to help with the fatigue, but there really wasn't much change. It did help my depression though ... that's why I kept taking it despite the tiredness ... but I couldn't stand it anymore. I was taking 112.5 mg. (One 75 mg and one 37.5 mg. a day.)I hope you can find something else to help you!
