Hi,
I take sulpiride/200mg for dysthymia/social phobia. I`m satisfied with it but I experience sexual dysfunction with it ( i`m male). Is prolactin the cause and can dopamine agonists like pergolide, pramipexole or bromocriptin help? Is such a combination useful at all (dopamine antagonist + dopamine agonist)?
Thanks for help

> Thanks for helpGood questions. Elevated prolacitin is the cause of your problems. Bromocriptine has been documented to normalize prolactin levels elevated by sulpiride thus taking away the associated side effects. It does not interefere with the action of sulpiride. Pramipexole is also prolactin lowering and won't interfere with the action of sulpiride but I haven't heard of anyone using the combo. I tried amisulpride (cousin of sulpiride) with pramipexole but I didn't experience increased mood, motivation or anything except the best jumpshot I've ever had in my life! Anyway, there is the possibility that the combo of Mirapex and sulpiride will provide additional mood benefit while normalizing your prolactin levels.
BTW, be sure you are using the lowest effective dosage of sulpiride to minimize side effects.

My English is not perfect.
But what does "jumpshot" mean?
Perhaps this question makes you laugh.
Thanks for response

I take sulpiride to as a young male (age 20), and i personally don't have that much problems with the decrease in sexual need.
I do think i'm growing breasts tough :) I don't know, maybe it's just imaginary...I take 75mg per day and it really works wonders.
I take it in combination with prothiaden, and those two are supposed to achieve my full recovery according to my p-doc, who i really trust.grtz,

Hi
Breast growth in men is an established side effect of sulpiride. It occurs because sulpiride raises the level of a hormone called prolactin.
