I saw the question regarding Tamoxifen... (I'm not going to answer the qwuestions as I don't like being tested)

Anyway, why did you put this in there??? Does Tamoxifen ahve some anti-dperessant qualities??

I only ask as my mum has been on it, and there was discussion of me being placed on it as part of a trial into whether it can prevent women at high risk of breast cancer developing the disease...

Just interested!!

Nikki

Don't worry about it. His poll appeared to me to be designed to see how confused laymen are with medical terms and meds. He may have some agenda in preventing people who've not been well treated by doctors from getting treatment other ways.

Tamoxifen might have only a minor effect on mood. It blocks estrogen receptors. Hormones do effect mood, and in particular, high estrogen levels increase the likelyhood of a panic reaction in men or women.

Some, only 1/3, breast cancers grow with the help of Estrogen. Tamoxifen and Teslac are older drugs to slow these cancers. Arimidex and Femara are newer, second line drugs. Unless you have breast cancer, screwing up your hormone levels may not be worth a *possible* cancer risk reduction.
