Hi Jenn - I had eight sessions of ECT. It definitely lifted my mood, but also affected my memory enough that after it wore off, I decided not to pursue it as a regular treatment option.
Someone recently posted a link to an article about ECT in the Atlantic Monthly that was really good. I'll see if I can find it if you can't.
Feel free to ask me more questions,

My memory came back a lot more slowly (and erraticly) than the effects wore off. I know I'm not doing so hot right now, but I just couldn't accept (yet) a fuzzy, passive life on disability. Maybe I'll have to some day. It's different for everyone, though, and I am glad I tried it. I had eight uni-polar treatments, btw.
