Effexor withdrawl:fight back

Posted by kristinanne on September 1, 2000, at 10:06:45

I have been off Effexor for six days after slowly reducing the daily dosage. The side effects are still unbearable at times. I am eight weeks pregnant and know that this drug is so intense that it would certainly harm my baby, especially after the withdrawl that is worse than cocaine, opiate, or other illicit drug withdrawl. These symptoms are horrible, and it sounds like doctors are clueless to it. I would like to take legal action against the company for not warning against withdrawl effects that are debilitating. I have been unable to work, have been crying all the time, and every day is the same as the last. It is ridiculous to put thousands of people on a drug that is this horrifying to get off, not even knowing if it will work for the patient. We should be WARNED about what is in store, and there had better be some serious testing as to what it's effects are on a fetus. If a mother stays on the drug while pregnant, the newborn would certainly go through the same withdrawl, and that is as bad as going off crack cocaine. Please join me in fighting back, we should not be going through this hell just so the shrinks and drug companies can get richer.

James here....

Please note that for some of us, like me, don't
have withdrawal problems and for me Effexor is the only AD that works. In fact it works very well. We now know some have this problem and almost any AD will cause it. Effexor does seem to
be the worst in this reguard. I'm sorry you are having so a ruff time.
