I have been doing great on Nardil -- except for one problem. I occasionally have periods of extreme drowsiness. They don't last long and come without warning. Any suggestions?

Greetz to Luke:
If you examine every single psychiatric drug abstract, you will always find "drowsiness" as a possible side effect. Just accept it and learn to live with it. Pump up your Vitamins A and E. Take naps. No big whoop.

I had the same thing when I was on 45 mg. I know the feeling that you absolutely need to fall asleep. Most of the time I take 30mg and the problem is much less. Based on a low body temperature an internist put me on thyroid, and just recent my pdoc increased it. I have a lot more energy. Taking naps is how I did deal with it, but when I was working full time, it was really hard. BTW, it didn't make any difference if I took the nardil morning or night or split the dose, same thing. But its a great medication and it's worth it. Also my pdoc tried me with almost every stimulent with it, ritalin, adderall etc., but I didn't react well. Even though the pdr says not to take them together if you are careful and watch yourself the first time, it seems to be no problem.
And if you react well to them, they will probably help with the sleepiness. Shellie
