After years of searching for a treatment for refractory depression with severe anxiety, I've found the answer with 40 mg Prozac and 25mg Naltrexone daily. Goodness knows why it works. SSRIs have always pooped out before but this seems sustained and I feel wonderful. What's more, I was self-medicating with alcohol. The Naltrexone has stopped that too and taken away any wish to drink. Why would I when I'm full up with happiness? I'm not hypomanic - just content. If you're suffering poop-out it might be worth a try. God bless the genius who thought of the idea. My doctors were skeptical and reluctant and I had to persuade them to let me try it. The only problem with Naltrexone is the price. Any ideas about getting it cheaper? I live in NZ.

Great to hear this, Fred. There was at least one other guy who used to post here who had success with naltrexone.

How long did it take for the Naltrexone to start working?

Fred, - I believe Naltrexone's main use is to inhibit somehow, the craving for alcohol. If you go back in the archives to early or late 1999, another fellow, Wayne R., had pretty much total remission of depression symptoms with Naltrexone. At the time, probably 5 or 6 other people immediately tried it, but to no avail.

On the other hand, in the tips section, one practitioner says 25mg/day Naltrexone meant the end of SSRI poop-out in his practice. It's been that for me too. It's worth a try if poop-out is a problem, as it is with so many.
