clonazepam

Posted by odells on December 9, 2000, at 11:03:31

ok--what is the deal with this drug?? I stopped taking zoloft a few months ago and have been experiencing weird symptoms--like panic attacks, dizziness.... The panic attacks are getting worse. I went to the emergency room and the doc wants to give me clonazepam. He things I am suffering from panic disorder. I wonder why??? Every time I talk to my doctor she wants to give me another drug. I never had a panic attack until I stopped taking zoloft. I want to go back on zoloft. So much for being drug free!!! But I also want these damn panic attacks to stop. So--can anyone tell me about this drug and how it worked for them.. thanks.

p.s. By the way--I started therapy.

I take clonazepam (klonipin) as needed for panic attacks and it works very well. It is slower acting and lasts longer than xanax. Maybe you do have panic attacks and the zoloft was helping with them. How much zoloft were you taking? In high doses it is an anti-anxiety.

I was taking 50 mgs a day for depression. I only started having the panic attacks after I stopped taking the zoloft. I am going back on it to see if the panic stops.

I am tapering from Clonazepam now. Let me tell you, it is pure hell. If you think coming off Zoloft is bad, try getting off Clonazepam. I was originally put on benzodiazapines from the side effects of Prozac. First Xanax, then Valium, then Clonazepam. One pill leads to another leads to another.
Do yourself a big favor and don't even start it.
