I have bin tacking effexor xr and it has helped me in several ways. My doc has started adding 7.5 dose of Ritalin to my effexor xr to help me with concentration and impatiens. I would appreciate any info anybody has about this. Thank you in advance.

Click on "search" button on the top of the board and write ritalin. You'll find plenty of info.

I also take effexor, and was taking ritalin for a long time. It helped. The one thing to look out for, though, is "rebound"----when the dose wears off, it can cause, in some people, irritability, depressed mood, etc. The rebound happens because it has such a short action time.

I did not like the rebound feeling, so I switched to the sustained release form of ritalin, but didn't feel this worked as well, because it delivers a smaller amount of medicine over a longer time, ie, more smoothly, less peaks and valleys, but it didn't seem to be enough for me. I switched recently to Adderall, which seems to work better for me.

Good luck.
