Miguy - I have seen this combination used in anxiety disorders, especially generilized anxiety disorder with some panic components. It should be safe to use. Ask your doctor about how he/she would like you to take them together. Some docs use Xanax until the Effexor kicks in (eg 4 - 8 weeks) and then taper the Xanax.
