Anyone ever tried Lucidril? Experiences?

Posted by Rainwoman on October 31, 2000, at 8:34:46

Hello All!

Just received my adrafinil yesterday, started today. My situation is this, I ordered the adrafinil from Nu-brain, however, it didn't meet the $60.00 minimum order. I looked around mostly for the cheapest nootropic(sp?) and found lucidril, which also arrived yesterday. I've found quite a few positive articles on this drug, but haven't seen anything here. I found this in one of my findings:

My own experience is with piracetam, centrophenoxine (Lucidril), and
vasopressin (Diapid). Piracetam might have had some effects, but made my
eyes so red on the days that I took it that I decided it was not worth
continuing. Vasopressin, as Max said, is mainly useful when the brain's
supply of neurotransmitters is either depleted (following a caffeine or
other stimulant binge) or suppressed (by alcohol or other CNS depressant)
-- I consider it the long-sought "sober-up" treatment.

Centrophenoxine gave me the most dramatic results -- I did not measure
them by any kind of psychometric tests, but I felt more alert, and
experienced faster and more reliable recall than previously. Since
Lucidril works by making a permanent brain change (enabling brain
metabolism to remove life-long accumulations of the aging pigment
lipofuscin from the neurons), its effects are cumulative -- you continue
to feel sharper even after you quit taking the drug.

This came from this site:

I also started the lucidril today, since there seems to be no interaction problems. Hopefully, there are no weight loss side effects, since I was so depressed the past three weeks that I wouldnt allow myself to eat, resulting in a roughly 17lb weight loss. I really can't afford to lose much more. My depression has since lifted, which is good, because along with not eating, thanksgiving(also my birthday) was going to be my d-day. I am taking the adrafinil for both depression/ADD. I was hoping the Lucidril would help with my ADD.

I was just curious about anyone elses experiences. I will post mine if anybody is interested, although taking both together might make it tough to tell which is working. I have seen that adrafinil takes a while to work though.

Hope all are well!
Michele

I also have some Lucidril. But I haven't tried it yet.

From what I've read in different places, Lucidril and/or Hydergine and/or Piracetam (or even better its analog Oxiracetam) look like pretty good drugs. They don't appear to be heavy duty drugs like ones normally seen in psychiatry, but maybe in a class somewhere between vitamins and drugs.

I don't know. They all look pretty interesting. Stay in touch, I would like to know how it goes. Good or bad, would like to know.

Rain,
I would also be interested in your response to both meds. I've tried adrafinal, had only a moderate response, but a lot of people here have had very good results with it.

Lucidril is new to me, so I'd be interested to know what kind of experience you have with it.

Good luck!

Day 2, Lucidril and Adrafinil

Howdy Babblers--

Well this is day 2 on the Adrafinil and Lucidril. Too early to really tell anything yet, however I have absolutely no side effects. I do feel a bit "sharper". It seems thoughts come to me clearer. I was on an upswing when I started these two though, so again hard to tell. I should also mention that I take 150 mg Wellbutrin and 40mg Ritalin SR per day, which I have been doing for awhile. I am thinking of dropping the adrafinil though, for awhile, because if this clarity is from the Lucidril, that would be just wonderful, since it is so inexpensive. I also like the anti-aging properties. The reason I noticed this "clarity", is last night I went trick or treating with friends and their children (a minor miracle in itself, since when I am deeply depressed, I won't even answer the phone.). Anyway, I usually have a hard time thinking of witty things to say, coming up with them after the moment has passed. The same with conversation, I never know what to say. Last night I was fully focused on the activities and conversation, and hearing someone cracking funny jokes left and right. And it was me! Could be just a fluke, but I will keep you all updated! John, let me know when you decide to try, I would love to compare experiences! Geez, you would think with all these stimulating properties I would be stimulated out of my mind, but actually, I feel really calm. Maybe one of them is helping the Ritalin work more effectively. Later! Hope all is well for you guys!

Just a guess, but I would vote the overall good effects you've noticed so far were the Adrafinil and not the Lucidril. What you describe sounds very similar to what I experienced with Adrafinil the first couple days.

Could be either one though. Would be interesting to try one or the other alone just to see. Let me know. I would be curious. :-)
