Parnate (MAOI) withdrawl

Posted by Ray M. on October 15, 2000, at 13:51:40

For anyone who's taken Parnate for several years and discontinued use-

What were the withdrawl symptoms like?

Any flu-like symptoms?

It's been almost two weeks now and I still feel feverish. Had a vaccination a few days after I stopped taking Parnate which might have caused some side effects in addition to...

I'm not certain if I'll start taking it again or try another anti-depressant. My shrink recommended a procedure which was originally intended to treat epilepsy (I think)
Some sort of device which stimulates some part of your grey matter, which is implanted in your body.

When I hear about forms of treatment like this I wonder who's really the one with mental illness.

Blah blah blah. The End.

Thanks.

I *started* Parnate 20 mg about a month ago; went through three weeks of hell of withdrawal from wellbutrin and celexa.

You may find that valium or clonazepam will help (I can take them right now with Parnate). Something also to help you sleep as you really don't want to be awake going through withdrawal. I basically knocked myself out for two weeks as being awake was unbearable and I almost killed myself four times and couldn't put my poor boyfriend through more of my rage/irritability/giddy/sobbing mood swings. Physical pain as well, that was a major thing. BUT, I haven't done Parnate withdrawal, just some suggestions that's all from personal experience.....

Hang in there, it'll go away soon. I know it hurts like hell.
