Hi,
I've been taking Effexor for a few months for anxiety. It seems to work well for me. The problems I have with it and what I'd value input on are:
a) Constipation, which I'm not combatting very well.
b) Palpatations and racing pulse. This is scarey. I drink tea (caffiene) about 3 cups a day and occasionally have a glass of wine with dinner.
Does anyone else have these side effects and if so, what do you do about them?
Thank you,
Georgina

I take lecithin supplements every day, and those may have a lot to do with it. Let's see, Effexor, Prozac, lecithin, and a daily multivitamin pack. I don't know which of those are involved, but since starting the lecithin, I've been regular, and had very little trouble even at those times in the month when I'm usually uncomfortable.

For the other side effects you mentioned, have you had your blood pressure checked? Just one though...I drink a lot of coffee, and I have an occassional drink. Haven't found much trouble from Effexor over that, though. I do have more dry mouth and more insomnia. The insomnia is not too bad, the dry mouth is more of a problem for me. I just drink constantly ;-)

I've beenbtaking it for 4 months now, and all side affects seem to be slolwy dissapating - except that damned constipation!! This is the advice I got, and it does seem to be working;
Increase amount of water drunk (I know drink 2 litres a day.. and where I may not "go" more often, it's alot less pain ful when I do, as "they're" alot less solid!)
Train your body to go once a day.- This is actually helping alot. I sit on the loo at 8pm every nght for at least 1/2 an hour.. Not straining but relaxing and reading. After a while your body gets used to this time, and now I tend to go 50% of these times!GHope this is some help to you!
