I have noticed gradually over the past year or so that it seems my reaction to things is getting slower. I am not sure how to explain this, but for example....my thought process has seemed to slow down as well as a noticable progression of taking longer to be able to verbalize thoughts ( sorry, I know this sounds weird and its hard to explain). I have been on different medications for several years, and I was wondering especially with the high doses of different benzo's that I have been on, if this could be a side effect of long term use? Does anyone have any information about long term use of benzo's? And if this can begin to impair your cognitive functioning?
Thanks,
MichelePS - I hope i made sense

If you are currently on benzo's, yes they can cause the problems you mention but if you are now
off them for at least 1 month, then no they do not have this long term effect. Perhaps you are describing depression, which is assoc with slowing of thought, ect. Basically all the things you mentioned.james

Benzo's can cause psychosis, lead to dependance, induce memory problems, and will slow you down. things should get back to normal if you stop taking them.
