I suffer from feelings of dread, double depression and ruminations. I tried almost all the SSRI's. None of them have any positive effect. However, 450 mg of Aventyl (nortriptyline/Pamelor) totally eliminates all my symptoms. But this medicine causes me to be lethargic, sleep too many hours, and get fat. I also worry about cardiac problems from a high dose of this Tricyclic drug. The only other drug that seems to do anything is Welbutryn 400 mg/day augmented with Luvox 400 mg/day. This eliminates the dread, but does nothing for the depression or ruminations. Would a cocktail of Welbutryn and Aventyl help me? Is there another drug like Aventyl with less side effects?
