If a MAOI cannot be combined with an other AD , i would like to know which is the best strategy to treat severe insomnia due to moclobemide (european MAOI), for long term treatment ?

Hi,

Have you tried Ambien? It is an excellent med for insomnia, with rarely any hangover. However, as with most meds for sleep, it will not work well if you stay on it for more than a few weeks. For the long term, low-dose trazadone would be good, and I know of no reason why you couldn't take it with moclobemide. Also, klonopin might be helpful.
