Anyone with Lyme Disease??

Posted by Oddzilla on July 30, 2000, at 20:17:00

Has anyone been diagnosed with Lyme disease?

How were you treated?

Do you think the Lyme disease caused or worsened your depression ?

Did you have any difficulty recieving adequate treatment or diagnosis of Lyme related symptoms because of a prior diagnosis of depression?

Thanks
Oddzilla

Yes, yes, yes. Not me but my mother, diagnosed just last week, by her neurologist, of all people. And they had been giving her ECT every week instead of the former every 3 weeks, because of all the s--t the Lyme was doing to her. She's on antibiotics, and it seems to be having a rapid effect. (Still getting ECT tomorrow, however.)
Yes, her depression/TERROR was worse, and yes, everybody just thought she needed more shocks to the brain. And while I'm at it---today while I was busy registering here, and worrying about my email being public, my beloved brother, a thousand miles away from me, was trying to kill himself. He didn't succeed. Ain't life grand.

Oh God, Alice, I can only say I'm so sorry. What strength you have to be alive at all after that. Thanks for being here. I'm glad you figured out that you didn't have to show everybody your e-mail.

Alicefranklin, I'm glad they found out what was wrong with your mother, and I'm also glad that your brother didn't succeed. You've been through a lot! Hang in there!

alicefranklin I'm so sorry about your brother. I'm glad he didn't succeed. I'm glad your mom is getting treated. Even though everyone seems to agree that depression is a biological problem, very few doctors seem to put much energy into looking for any biological cause apart from the elusive "chemical imbalance". I wish there were Psychointernists as well as psychopharmacologists. Take care of yourself.

PS Let me know if you remember. Thanks ;o)
