Hi,
Iīll try to make this short.
about 1.5 years ago I was put on Prozac and it virtually turned my life around, kind of like a miracle, but not for long. 2 months after it pooped out. Then I started Paxil with exactly the same happening! Then I guess I got frustrated and let the Depression take over again. Now recently I was diagnosed with ADD and was put on Zoloft (I requested it). It didnīt do a thing. Then the doc gave me Ritalin! Cool I thought but it really wasnīt.. It only leaves me a little zonked out and thatīs pretty much it. Now to get to the point, I consider going back on Paxil because it worked really great only not for long, but I read on MedLine that Stims like Ritalin and SSRIs are a really good combination, preventing the darn poop out and augmenting the ADs effect. So I was wondering.. is the Paxil likely to work again, if it lost its effects once, even if it was a year ago.
I know noone of you can give me a definate answer to that but maybe some of you did start a SSRI again some time after it pooped out..

> IngoIf you really have ADD, Prozac was a really poor choice, as it tends to suppress dopamine. This would make the ADD worse. I know, for me, its very depressing to be even more scattered. I havent' personally looked at the research on Paxil. Many SSRI's stimulate the H2 serotonin receptor which suppresses dopamine. If Paxil does, it might be likely to poop out too. Something more selective like Effexor might work better.
Have you thought of trying any of the other Stims? What specifically do you mean by Zonked out? "Zonked" out doesn't seem a typical response for an adult to Ritalin. You may still be on the right track with a Stim. It wouldn't take much of a trial to tell it one of the others would help.
